ABOUT THE PROJECT

Cloverton Wetland O & Northern Waterway

Cloverton Estate, located north of Melbourne in Kalkallo, is the largest urban development project in Victoria and will provide homes to approximately 30000 residents when complete. The 11200 hectare site includes Merri Creek and an extinct volcano.

A waterway and wetland were constructed to Melbourne Water specifications to manage stormwater from the estate.

WORKS

WETLAND

  • Bulk earthworks involving over 100,000m3 of cut
  • Construction of 32,000m2 wetland area consisting of 11 intermediate/culvert pools and significant control pits
  • Construction of various spillways with concrete nib walls
  • Construction of 700m of RCP drainage including 2×1200 balance culverts under road reserve
  • Installation of 20,000m3 of clay liner and 12,000 m3 of top soil

WATERWAY

  • Construction of 900m waterway adjacent to noise attenuation wall
  • Construction of 8 chutes comprising of high flow channel rockwork and concrete nib walls
  • Earthworks and clay liner of 8 permanent pools
  • Construction of 4500m2 of rock bed along the entire waterway
  • Construction of 1 rock chute, and 3 rock beaching inlets
