Kalparrin Gardens Stormwater Harvest
The rejuvenation of the lake in Kalparrin Gardens in Greensborough is the first stage in Banyule City Council’s clever new way of ensuring local parks and sporting grounds will have their own water supply long into the future.
The project will build an innovative water conservation and quality improvement system to capture, treat and store stormwater underground for use on parks and ovals in Greensborough.
The Banyule Stormwater Harvesting project is a unique partnership between the Banyule City Council and bot h the Victorian and Australian Government.
Key Aspects:
- Heavy Rains causing flooding of the works area
- Protection of Flora/Fauna
- Extensive rock breaking for the wetlands
- Gypsum application to the wetlands clay seal
Works Included:
- Dewatering and control of inflows
- Bulk Earthworks
- Construction of wetland and associated features
- Construction of rock headwalls, weir structure and wetland inlet and outlet structures
- Planting of wetland and batter slopes including hydroseeding of finished earthwork areas
- Construction of underground scoria tank
- Construction of new pump stations
