ABOUT THE PROJECT
Max Pawsey Reserve Stormwater Harvesting NARRE WARREN
Max Pawsey Reserve, Narre Warren was selected by City of Casey as part of its Integrated Water Management Plan to develop a water efficient stormwater harvesting system whilst improving the amenities of the reserve.
The objective was to reduce potable water demand for the irrigation of the sporting precinct included the development of a fully functioning wetlands and onsite treatment plant to provide clean recycled water.
WORKS
- Construction of a wetland and sediment basin including topsoiling, jute matting and vegetational works.
- Installation of new stormwater drainage and gross pollutant trap (GPT)
- Decommissioning and replacement of existing Melbourne Water main drain
- Installation of various service conduits – sewer, electrical, communications
- Installation of precast and in situ concrete structures including 1ML underground storage tank
- Construction of rockwork and erosion protection
- Installation of and Advanced Treatment Facility including pipes, pits, pumping treatment, shed structure and concrete slab
KEY ASPECTS
- Site located within a functional flood retarding basin and subject to a ‘Land Subject to Inundation’ overlay
- Working within an area of high public usage
- Works were undertaken within the water table with saturated clays causing alternative clay liner options to be considered and adopted
