ABOUT THE PROJECT

Stormwater Pumping Station – Thames Promenade CHELSEA

The flood resilience and safety of low-lying areas in Kingston continues to be improved through an ongoing program of stormwater and drainage upgrades.

Entracon Civil were contracted to construct a stormwater pump station and associated drainage using methods to minimise volume of soil disturbance.

WORKS

  • Installation of a wet well via the caisson method by applying loads to push a 3.6m diameter concrete ring into the ground and excavating the soil within the ring to 10.1 metres.
  • Installation of a 525 mm diameter stormwater main pipe via pipe jacking method to connect the wet well to the council’s upstream stormwater drainage system.
  • Installation of a 400 mm diameter rising main pipe within a 2m deep trench to connect the wet well to Melbourne Water’s existing downstream stormwater drainage system.
  • Excavation to 2.4m for installation of a valve chamber for the rising main.
  • Installation of a maintenance vehicle access and turn around area.
